About the journal

The International Marine Energy Journal (IMEJ) is a community enabled and led open access publication with the aim to publish original, high quality, state of the art research and review articles with the following scope:

  • Wave / tidal energy resource characterisation.
  • Wave / tidal device development, optimisation and testing.
  • Wave / tidal device hydrodynamic modelling and structural mechanics.
  • Grid integration, PTO, control and electrical connections of marine renewable energy.
  • Station keeping, mooring, material, fatigue, loadings as applied to marine renewables.
  • Arrays / farms of marine renewable energy devices.
  • Environmental impact assessment and appraisal applied to marine renewable energy.
  • Economic and social aspects of marine renewable energy.
  • Legislation, planning and codes, legal and political aspects of marine renewable energy.

 

IMEJ is published by the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (EWTEC).

Open access

The International Marine Energy Journal is fully open access. For full details please see the open access statement.

Peer-reviewed

The International Marine Energy Journal has a single-blind peer review process with a minimum of two peer reviewers per article. All manuscripts are pre-screened for plagiarism before being sent out for review. Please familiarize yourself with the journal's Transparency and Ethics Statement to ensure that you understand the processes and ethical standards required.

Indexed

IMEJ is indexed in Scopus and as of May 2022 has a Citescore tracker value of 1.8. It is also listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and has been accepted for inclusion within Engineering Village.

Archived

Articles published by the International Marine Energy Journal are archived at the British Library, so even if the journal ceases publication, articles will remain accessible in perpetuity.

Digitally identifiable

The International Marine Energy Journal gives each published article a Digital Object Identifier, registered with CrossRef.

Free submission and processing

There are currently NO Article Processing Charges (APC), submission charges any any other fees to be paid in order to publish an article in IMEJ; publication is free. We may introduce an APC in the future, but not until 2025 at the earliest.

For manuscripts where the first author and the corresponding author are employed at an institution headquartered in a country classified as Low income or Lower middle income (by the World Bank), submission and processing will always be free.
